Mejora genética y resistencia inducida frente a enfermedades y plagas forestales

Abstract

Que la incidencia de plagas y enfermedades en las masas forestales está en aumento y previsiblemente continuará aumentando es un hecho bien constatado que preocupa enormemente y mantiene en alerta a las autoridades forestales de todo el planeta. Prevenir y proteger nuestras masas forestales se ha convertido en una prioridad silvícola en la gestión de masas naturales y plantaciones forestales. Pero las herramientas profilácticas que dispone el selvicultor son limitadas y están fuertemente restringidas por las exigencias que imponen la gestión forestal sostenible y la certificación forestal. Así, el uso masivo de productos fitosanitarios para reducir la incidencia de plagas y enfermedades en masas forestales es una alternativa en declive que tiende o tenderá a desaparecer.

Conferencia invitada en la reunión celebrada en Plasencia (España) los días 21 y 22 de septiembre de 2011.
