Abstract

“Hacer remedio el dolor” es una comedia palatina cómica escrita en colaboración por Agustín Moreto. Los nombres de los colaboradores fluctúan en los diversos testimonios antiguos. Así, en la que sería la "editio princeps", la “Oncena parte de Comedias nuevas escogidas de los mejores ingenios de España”, impresa en 1658, aparece como de Moreto y Jerónimo de Cáncer. La segunda edición conservada fue impresa en Sevilla en la Imprenta Castellana y Latina de Diego López de Haro [1724-1756?] y da como autores a los mismos y en idéntico orden, mientras que la tercera, impresa en Valencia por la viuda de José de Orga en 1762, incorpora un nuevo autor y varía el orden de los otros dos: Jerónimo de Cáncer, Juan de Matos Fragoso y Agustín Moreto

Esta comedia trata la discreción de los amantes ante una dama que busca esposo. En esta temática, la protagonista puede tener diversas razones en su conducta, de manera que hay comedias que destacan la libertad y en otras sobresale un imperativo familiar para tener que decidir el candidato a su matrimonio, casi siempre con la presencia de un padre.
