Abstract

An approach to the spectrophotometric analysis of 1,2-cyclohexane dicarboxylic acid diisononyl ester (Hexamoll® DINCH) by ATR-FTIR is carried out in this work. Partial least squares regression is used to find the relationship between absorbance and concentration. Solutions with high levels of DINCH are analysed directly on a zinc selenide crystal. The effect of changes in some conditions (working with solvent or air background, replicate or not the measurements, recording full or reduced scan, and using different data pretreatment) on the determination of this plasticizer is studied. Less concentrated solutions are preconcentrated on the ATR crystal. In this case, both zinc selenide and diamond crystals are tested for the analysis. Finally, the simultaneous determination of three plasticizers (DINCH, Diisononyl phthalate and di-2-ethyl-hexyl adipate) is approached; the analytical method is validated. These compounds are determined in commercial PVC films.
