Abstract

Aquesta obra ens indica i proposa un centre: el dharma, no només com a "ordre ontològic real", sinó també com a "ordre extrínsec de la naturalesa de les coses", presentant així l'hinduisme com a acció "litúrgica". Després d'una introducció i d'una presentació "històrica", la part del llibre dedicada al dharma considera el tema segons una estructura de pensament que és alhora ternària (tots tres marga o "vies d'espiritualitat") i quaternària (els quatre aspectes de la vida espiritual: vara, âshrama, purusârtha i finalment els quatre estats de la consciència o dimensions de la realitat). Conclou l'obra amb un perfil doctrinal de les tres principals religions hindús (Vishnuisme, Shivaisme i Shaktisme), i amb un breu Epíleg on se subratlla el que l'autor considera "una de les causes dels malentesos entre Orient i Occident", cenyint-la a "l'escissió entre ontologia i epistemologia (entre el Ser reflectit en el coneixement i l'estudi d'aquest coneixement independentment del Ser)"
