El objetivo de este artículo es estimar la relación precio-calidad de los destinos turísticos españoles de ‘sol y playa’. El estudio parte de los precios hoteleros brutos u observados, pero depura estos precios para encontrar y analizar los auténticos preciós netos de los hoteles de los diferentes destinos turísticos españoles. Desde un punto de vista metodológico, el estudio se basa en los métodos hedónicos, de larga tradición en el análisis económico. Los resultados muestran que la distinción entre precios brutos (u observados) y precios netos (o estimados) de los establecimientos hoteleros es significativa. La evidencia empírica que aporta este trabajo -en esencia, novedosa- debería ser útil para orientar la toma de decisiones, ya sea de los agentes privados (por ejemplo, en sus decisions de inversión o de comercialización) o de los gestores públicos (por ejemplo, en el diseño de políticas y planes turísticos)
The aim of this article is to estímate price-quality relatíon of Spain resorts from ‘sun and beach’ segment. This study uses initially observed prices, but after obtains net pnces -estimated-, discounting services and characteristics prices. Methodologically, this article is based in hedonic methods, often used in economic analysis. Results show important differences between ‘prices observed’ and ‘adjusted prices’ by services and characteristics. Empirical results obtained in this article should be useful for taking decisions from public and prívate agents
