Since the Middle Ages, the West has undergone several conjunctural changes in terms of social structure. The transformation of factors such as political organisation, economics and technology have given rise to different societies. Consequently, from the feudal stage through the industrial to the neoliberal stage, the drifts of power have been renewed. Thus, the aim of this paper is to decipher when, how and why the mechanisms of control and domination operate on the basis of the research of philosophers such as Foucault and Han. Starting from the analysis of the material conditions of each historical epoch, we will approach the stage of sovereignty and disciplinary power. Once this historical journey has been completed, we will focus on the current paradigm shift: the irruption of digital neoliberalism; and we will explain the conjunctural factors on which this new world order is based. Thus, having approached both the previous power drifts and the current material conditions, we will be able to delve deeper into the society resulting from the new power operation: the performance society
