En aquest treball intentaré presentar els principals elements que defineixen un Estat federal, i descriure’n les característiques principals, seguint els models clàssics com són el dels Estats Units d’Amèrica, Canadà, Alemanya, etc., per saber si l’Estat espanyol conté algun d’aquests elements per definir-se com a Estat federal o si, per contra, n’hi falten i quins n’hi falten
