Abstract

[EN] The observed demographic trend in recent decades, together with the situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, have led to a considerable increase in the demand for healthcare services in our health system, being the predominant epidemiological pattern the chronic pathologies. We faced a challenge as a society: to adapt to the new demographic and epidemiological paradigm. To face this situation, it will be necessary to develop alternative models to traditional hospitalization. These integrated care models are made up of multidisciplinary teams, both health and social professionals, who guarantee continuity in patient care. While the surrounding European countries have already experienced great progress in this area, in Spain still represents a challenge. The proposed program is a socio-sanitary centre which is intended to address the described problems, as well as to satisfy the caring needs for both the town in which it is located: Gestalgar, and the region. Gestalgar, a town located in the province of Valencia noted for its scenic, historical and cultural value, is the appropriate settlement to shelter a healthy building, created to contribute sustainably to improve the health and well-being of its inhabitants.
