Sòls, aigua i desertificació

Abstract

The soil, besides being the physical support of the human activities, is a natural body ab/e to produce goods and services, and play several environmental functions. Among these, the role of soil as reservoir regulator of the water cycle and environmental filter is of crucial importance for conserving water amounts and quality. At short term, the magnitude of the effects derived of the alteration of the soil hydrological processes depend on the climate but, at long term, soil use and management exert the control. Water which is the main factor limiting vegetal growing and human activity is also a main factor in the soil degradation processes.
