El espacio de Minkowski como marco de la relatividad especial

Abstract

La relatividad especial es una nueva teoría ideada a raíz de las contradicciones halladas en la física clásica, vistas a partir del experimento de Michelson-Morley a finales del siglo XIX. Gracias a los trabajos de Poincaré y Lorentz, Einstein dio una interpretación diferente a estos resultados, formulando la teoría de la relatividad especial. A raíz de los postulados construye esta nueva teoría, que da un nuevo sentido al espacio-tiempo, reescribe las relaciones de momento y energía cinética, y establece la equivalencia entre masa y energ´ıa. En este documento se hace un repaso de esta teor´ıa, analizando su surgimiento desde el experimento de Michelson-Morley y como se desarrolló, viendo sus consecuencias, y analizando sus nuevas relaciones y equivalencias. Finalmente se analiza como parte central del trabajo el espacio de Minkoswki, un espacio cuatridimensional sobre una geometría no euclidiana, ideado por el propio Minkowski para entender el espacio y el tiempo como variables ligadas.
