Democracia directa:¿utopía o realidad?

Abstract

The main aim of this study is to analyse the most prominent current figures of direct democracy, especially in Spain. The thematic division into several chapters responds to the purpose of comprehensively understanding the theoretical and legal ideas and some practical examples of the development of these participatory instruments. These sections will deal with the concept and historical evolution of direct democracy, its most relevant mechanisms, the Spanish experience with direct democracy and the regulation of direct democracy in Switzerland. In short, the aim is to create a global understanding of direct democracy, to develop the idea of direct democracy and to present the general framework of its regulation, with an emphasis on the Spanish regulation.
