Abstract

Alki Zei (Atenes, 1925-2020), autora dʹuna vintena dʹobres que han obtingut premis i reconeixements nacionals i internacionals, estudià Filosofia i Lletres i Art Dramàtic al Teatre Nacional de lʹOdeó. Compromesa amb la causa comunista, després de la Guerra Civil sʹexilià a la Unió Soviètica, on va viure des del 1954 al 1964. Tres anys més tard, però, després del cop dʹestat que donà pas a la dictadura dels coronels, la seva família es veié obligada a exiliar-se de nou, aquest cop a París. Amb la caiguda de la dictadura, lʹany 1974, sʹestablí definitivament a Atenes. Les seves vivències —lʹexili, la repressió, la injustícia social, la xenofòbia, la clandestinitat— són ben presents en la seva obra, particularment a Κοντά στις ράγες (Prop de les vies), publicada per primera vegada lʹany 1977, a lʹeditorial Kedros i de la qual ofereixo dos passatges traduïts, corresponents als dos primers capítols. A través de la mirada infantil dʹuna nena de deu anys, la novel·la, que tant pot ser llegida per joves com per adults, descriu la vida de la protagonista, la Sasha Velitsànkaia, durant lʹèpoca prerevolucionària dels tsars, marcada per les fortes desigualtats socials, la repressió i el descontentament del poble
