A lo largo de la historia las mujeres han sido las encargadas del cuidado y asistencia de personas en situación de dependencia. Hoy día este trabajo sigue recayendo sobre ellas, asumiendo estas la mayor parte de esta responsabilidad y en la mayoría de los casos, no participando los varones de forma equitativa en esta corresponsabilidad familiar. Si analizamos las estadísticas sobre el cuidado de personas dependientes, observamos que en su mayoría son mujeres quienes se ocupan de ello. Muchas no tienen empleo debido a la dificultad para compaginar la esfera pública con cuidados. En este sentido, la temática de este estudio se centra en mostrar cómo el sistema patriarcal continúa relegando a las mujeres a la esfera doméstica, reflejando así la persistencia de la discriminación por razón de género. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar, desde una perspectiva feminista, por qué son las mujeres las que siempre cuidan a las personas en situación de dependencia, reflexionando sobre cómo los estereotipos de género influyen en la asignación y reparto de este tipo de tareas. Del mismo modo, se pretende estudiar los sesgos de género que contienen de forma implícita estos cuidados asistenciales, así como la desigualdad en las oportunidades laborales que ello genera al dificultar la conciliación de la vida laboral con estos cuidados. Esta responsabilidad y carga de trabajo que se atribuye por razón de género conlleva una serie de repercusiones a nivel profesional, social, económico y emocional que afectan tanto al bienestar como a la salud de las mujeres. Por ello en este estudio ahondaremos en las causas que dan lugar a este reparto desigual de tareas y consecuente discriminación de género.

Throughout history, women have been in charge of the care and assistance of people in situations of dependency. Today, this work continues to fall on them, most of them assuming this responsibility and in most cases, with men not participating equally in this family coresponsibility. If we analyze the statistics on the care of dependent people, we observe that most of them are women who take care of it. Many are unemployed due to the difficulty in combining the public sphere with care. In this sense, the theme of this study focuses on showing how the patriarchal system continues to relegate women to the domestic sphere, thus reflecting the persistence of discrimination based on gender. The objective of this work is to analyze, from a feminist perspective, why it is women who always care for people in situations of dependency, reflecting on how gender stereotypes influence the assignment and distribution of this type of task. In the same way, it is intended to study the gender biases that implicitly contain this care, as well as the inequality in work opportunities that this generates by making it difficult to reconcile working life with this care. This responsibility and workload that is attributed due to gender entails a series of repercussions at professional, social, economic and emotional levels that affect both the wellbeing and health of women. For this reason, in this study we will delve into the causes that give rise to this unequal distribution of tasks and consequent gender discrimination.
