Abstract

Social protests have been used as a common tool to demand social changes or express people´s discontent with the decisions made by governments. As a right, social protests have a transcendental meaning based on performative actions of the body and the language. Through these actions, individuals are able to redefine public spaces in modern societies. This is due to the fact that people reaffirm themselves as subjects and recognize others from empathy and vulnerability of their bodies, developing collective actions and undertaking social movements. That being said, the transformation of the human being‘s political action is revealed and from his personal cause in addition with his experiences decides to take action in social motions, contributing towards the construction of social peace.
