Abstract

Treball Final de Grau en Criminologia i Seguretat. Codi: CS1044. Criminology, in its study of the offender and causes of crime, for years forgot women in its theories. Over the years, new currents of thought have emerged modifying the framework of study and the issues of female delinquency has gradually been introduced. The aim of our work is to analyse the criminal behaviour of Spanish women lighted by the main criminological theories that historically have tried to explain crime. First of all, we will take a look at some of the most representative theories, passing through the first of them, which attributed crime to biological factor, followed by sociological theories, to come up with recent feminist theories that focus all their study on women. Secondly, we will proceed to analyse statistically the female delinquency in Spain: percentage of female prisoners, the most committed crimes and the violent ones, which we will study more concretely, going through different typologies as injuries, homicide, murder and robbery and threats, making a comparison between men and women and how has it development being through these years. Thirdly, once the criminal typologies and frequency have been clarified, we will move on to study women’s criminal profile. Besides, we will try to explain their criminal behaviour by linking it to some of the criminological theories explained above.
