Abstract

Roman Escolano reviews in this article both the weaknesses that led to the crisis in the Eurozone as well as the answers provided by the European Union. According to him, the measures taken to improve economic governance are insufficient. The author advocates a strong euro with solid rules, greater fiscal discipline, reinforced institutions and a greater integration of markets to overcome the challenges of global economy and advance the economic and monetary union.
