Estigma Social y Salud Mental

Abstract

Durante los últimos años han sido numerosos los estudios que se han interesado en analizar el estigma social de las personas con trastorno mental, concluyendo que el estigma que envuelve a esta población no parece que haya reducido si no que, en ciertos contextos, se considera que ha aumentado. Las personas con enfermedad mental constituyen uno de los grupos más estigmatizados de nuestra sociedad, sobre todo las que tienen el diagnóstico de “esquizofrenia”. Desde terapia ocupacional es importante que se actúe a favor de la creación de comunidades inclusivas, trabajando para eliminar los prejuicios y el estigma que afecta a la socialización, inclusión y bienestar de las personas con trastorno mental, favoreciendo que desarrollen un proyecto de vida según sus ocupaciones significativas. El objetivo general que se plantea en este trabajo es explorar el estigma social sobre las personas con trastorno mental a través de una metodología cualitativa, realizando entrevistas semiestructuradas a un total de 15 personas.
