Abstract

ESDP missions are the main tool of the EU in international security action. Since the first mission (January 2003) to now, EU has deployed 23 missions (17 civil missions and 6 military ones) around Europe (Balkans and the post-Soviet space), Central Africa, Middle East and Indonesia. Thanks to these actions, EU has become a relevant international actor in the management of crisis. However, the EU should make an effort to acquire efficiency in order to implement a stabilizing strategy in the increasingly uneven international environment.
