Perfiles criminales

Abstract

The present academic work exposes the criminological profile’s technique as a legal auxiliary technique of Criminology, whose objective is to find out, through the scientific method, who is the unknown author or authors of a series of crimes or criminal acts linked to specific personalities. After a historical journey about the beginning and later evolution of the technique, the two variables that currently dominate this technique will be captured, the inductive and the deductive, which correspond to different branches, as well as, the study and analysis of all the phases that form the criminological profile technique and that make possible its practical application. Furthermore, the psychological profile is briefly taken into account as an inductive technique regarding the profile of variables before a sample of X individuals, and the retrospective profile is also considered in cases where the perpetrator has already been arrested. Afterwards, a study of the technique will be carried out with pioneering countries in the field, such as the United States, where its application is essential in criminal investigation. Addressing the criminological profile technique in its application to the general categories of criminals such as serial killers, psychopaths, sexual aggressors and arsonists. This work will be closed with a case study on the well-known serial killer hidden under the pseudonym "Killer of the Deck", who stood out for his outstanding criminal work.
