Volcanes de México: Documental audiovisual

Volcanes de México: Documental audiovisual

Abstract

Mexico has an important geological richness, and an example of this is its volcanoes; throughout the territory, it is home to about 30 stratovolcanoes and just over 3,000 monogenetic volcanoes. Some of the volcanoes in this country are emblematic worldwide, such as Popocatépetl and the Colima Volcano, which are currently in intense activity. Volcanoes have shaped part of Mexican culture, they are in gastronomy, legends and art, but they also provide us with a series of services such as meltwater, fertilization of agricultural fields or precious metals. This audiovisual documentary seeks to demystify volcanoes solely as danger structures, and seeks to do it in a young audience (18-35 years old) who are users of social networks. At the same time, it seeks to make visible some problems that face the ecosystems surrounding volcanoes, which are linked to illegal extraction, loss habitat and global warming. To achieve this, I opted for an experimental documentary, with a hybrid format where I mixed beautiful images with a social media narrative, and I created multiplatform products (TV, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook). This communication science product it’s the first chapter of a series of documentaries inspired to the #VolcanesdeMéxico
