La llengua de signes catalana (LSC), com la majoria d’altres llengües de signes (LS) d’arreu del món, és una llengua minoritària. Els estudis gramaticals de les LS han avançat força en els darrers anys, però hi ha poc coneixement en relació amb l’àmbit discursiu. Concretament sobre registre i variació lingüística en LSC hi ha molt poca informació. En aquest treball analitzem un discurs informal real en LSC per observar i definir la variació fonètica en funció del to. Els resultats indiquen que el to informal es caracteritza, principalment, per la variació en la configuració i en el lloc d’articulació. També, la caiguda de la mà no dominant apareix, independentment de si els signants sostenen un objecte. A més, hem observat un fenomen fins ara no contemplat: el canvi de dominància. També, hem observat que el llenguatge corporal afecta la producció fonètica. Per això, aquest treball aporta coneixements sobre la variació fins ara no estudiats en LSC.

Catalan Sign Language (LSC), like most sign languages worldwide, is a minority language. Grammatical studies about sign languages have developed increasingly over the last few years, but there is little research of the discourse level. Specific knowledge about register and language variation in LSC is still lacking. In this paper we analysed a real informal LSC discourse to observe and define phonetic variation in tone. The results indicate that the informal tone is mainly characterized by a change in the configuration and in the location of the signs. Moreover, the weak drop phenomenon appears regularly, regardless of whether the signers are holding an object in their hands. There is also a phenomenon so far not contemplated: dominance reversals. Likewise, we found that phonetic variation is affected by body language as well. This paper provides valuable evidence of phonetic variation in an unstudied field in LSC discourse.
