De la cultura musical a la cultura del so en la societat tecnològica

Abstract

La creixent facilitat en l'accés i ús de les noves tecnologies de la informació i de les comunicacions està propiciant molts canvis en la nostra societat. Actualment, la comunicació humana està completament mediatitzada per la tecnologia i la comunicació sonora més que d'altres. Gran part dels sons que escoltem diàriament estan produïts, o reproduïts, per dispositius electrònics, dispositius que tenen usos musicals i que integren tecnologies i funcions comunicatives molt diverses. Sols cal pensar en l'ordinador o en el telèfon mòbil, en la varietat d'usos comunicatius que tenen i en com poden manipular text, imatge, vídeo, veu, so, música, ... Però les tecnologies per elles mateixes no poden provocar un canvi cultural, és la facilitat en l'accés i ús d'aquestes tecnologies el que realment està produint canvis profunds en la cultura musical de la nostra societat occidental. Al llarg de la història, molts avenços tecnològics han tingut un impacte important en la distribució i consum de la música, per exemple la impremta o la radio varen permetre l'accés a la música a nous col·lectius socials. Però per a la creació musical, per expressar-se amb sons, sempre s'ha necessitat d'una formació molt específica, almenys fins fa poc. En aquest article argumento que l’actual popularització de les tecnologies de la informació i de les comunicacions està provocant una nova revolució dins la música, està produint canvis profunds no tant sols en l'accés i usos de la música sinó també en la creació i pràctica musical. Tant gran és l'impacte, que potser cal utilitzar un altre nom per a referir-nos a aquesta nova cultura, potser cal parlar de la nova cultura del so, una cultura que es nodreix de la tradició musical però que va molt més enllà.
