Promover os serviços ecossistémicos urbanos com infraestruturas verdes

Abstract

Os serviços ecossistémicos urbanos e a infraestrutura verde são crescentemente vistos como quadros conceptuais potenciadores de uma abordagem holística aos múltiplos benefícios associados às áreas verdes urbanas, como uma oportunidade de ultrapassar a persistente tendência setorial de análise e intervenção sobre as problemáticas estéticas, recreativas ou ecológicas e ambientais nas cidades. Partindo de uma leitura do processo de construção e afirmação de cada um destes quadros conceptuais, discutem-se possibilidades de articulação conceptual e metodológica entre a infraestrutura verde e os serviços ecossistémicos urbanos enquanto um promissor caminho para uma visão holística dos serviços ecológicos nas cidades.

Urban ecosystem services' and 'green infrastructure' are increasingly seen as conceptual frameworks tailored for holistic approaches to the multiple benefits associated with urban green areas, being seen as an opportunity to overcome sector-oriented approaches for the multiple aesthetic, recreational, ecological and environmental issues in cities. Following a review of the main moments in the construction and application of both conceptual frameworks, we discuss the potentials for conceptual and methodological integration of 'green infrastructure' and 'urban ecosystem services' as a promising way for holistic approaches to ecological services in cities.
