Esta dissertação propõe uma análise crítica das estratégias cinematográficas utilizadas na representação de quatro cidades, contrastando a cidade filmada com a cidade vivida. O objetivo central é analisar o processo de transposição do espaço urbano real para a narrativa fílmica, identificando quais elementos arquitetónicos e urbanísticos que são destacados, omitidos ou transformados. Através de uma análise comparativa, o estudo investiga de que modo essas opções estéticas e narrativas moldam uma perceção específica de cada urbe, contribuindo para a sua imagem coletiva. O trabalho estabelece, assim, um diálogo crítico entre a materialidade da cidade e a sua representação, analisando as convergências e divergências que caracterizam esta dinâmica. As conclusões visam aprofundar a compreensão sobre o poder do cinema enquanto mediador da experiência urbana e produtor de significado cultural e espacial.

This dissertation proposes a critical analysis of the cinematographic strategies used in the representation of four cities, contrasting the filmed city with the lived city. The central objective is to analyze the process of transposing real urban space into film narrative, identifying which architectural and urban elements are highlighted, suppressed or transformed. Through a comparative analysis, the study investigates how these aesthetic and narrative choices shape a specific perception of each city, contributing to its collective image. The work thus establishes a critical dialogue between the materiality of the city and its representation, analyzing the convergences and divergences that characterize this dynamic. The conclusions aim to deepen the understanding of the power of cinema as a mediator of the urban experience and a producer of cultural and spatial meaning.
