This thesis is a feature-length screenplay that draws on traditions of both narrative and essay cinema forms to examine the inevitability of time through generational remnants and degradation of body; and to celebrate the quiet strength of the human spirit. Inspired from fragmented second-hand memories, and a deep connection to place, this manuscript is a fictionalized account of a family and their attempt to understand one another in the face of death and chronic disease. The aim of this work is not to tell one particular story, but instead to present a world that allows space for examining that which persists within and beyond our lives.
