Este artículo examina las relaciones entre ontología, pensamiento político y política. Tras analizar la dimensión normativa del concepto de sociedad civil, con especial atención a la teoría de Cohen y Arato, se estudia el tratamiento ontológico de lo social y de lo político en Jean- Luc Nancy, Giorgio Agamben y Antonio Negri, valorando su consistencia y su pertinencia.
