Abstract

In this work an analysis of the wage inequality, its relation with the levels of schooling and with the precarious work is carried out, in the city of Puebla, between the years 2005 - 2008, based on the segmented labor markets and the wor k precarization theories. The trends of the three variables and their relationship during the study period are identified, pointing out the impacts of the 2009 crisis. The results reveal that wage inequality between skilled and unskilled workers is related to different degrees of schooling and different percentages of precarious work; however, during the study period, contrasting processes are observed with the theory of segmented markets, due to the deterioration of salaries and increased precarious work, occurring together with an increase in schooling levels in both skilled and unskilled jobs.
