Abstract

T h i s s t u d y s h o w s t h a t t h e s a m e c u l t u r e m e m a y c a r r y a s e r i e s o f s y m b o l s , b o t h p o s i t i v e a n d n e g a t i v e ; s o m e c u l t u r e m e s m a y c h a n g e t h e i r s y m b o l i c v a l u e s o v e r t i m e ; s o m e a l w a y s h o l d p o s i t i v e s y m b o l i c v a l u e s w h i l e o t h e r s o n l y c a r r y p e j o r a t i v e v a l u e s .

En este estudio tratamos la forma en que las metáforas y los culturemas funcionan en la lengua china, sobre todo en su lenguaje figurado, con la intención de ofrecer una perspectiva que nos ayude en la comprensión de éstos y en la comunicación intercultural. Así, observamos cómo la fraseología representa a menudo la especificidad linguo-cultural, basándonos en la teoría del lenguaje figurado convencional de Dobrovol'skij y Piirainen y en el concepto de culturema, tal como lo define Pamies (2007, 2017). Además, explicamos dicho concepto y lo ilustramos con varias subclases, tales como culturemas animales, vegetales, minerales, cromáticos, y numéricos, mostrando su variedad, su motivación, su desarrollo, y su aplicación. Este estudio demuestra que un mismo culturema podría conllevar varios simbolismos, tanto positivos como negativos; algunos culturemas sufren evolución de valor; otros han sido siempre muy apreciados y se le han atribuido únicamente valores positivos; en cambio, ciertos culturemas sólo conllevan valores peyorativos.
