Abstract

The profound and inexorable crisis in Spain — in its both economic and social dimensions — has been present uninterruptedly in the agendas of the different national and international cybermedia. One of the commonest news frames is the assoc iation between economic crisis and growing public violence. The explicit representation of street violence has radically modified the way Spain was seen as a country anchored to tourist peace, product of a peaceful transition to democracy. Social unrest do es not stop growing in opposition to a disoriented government that looks more concerned about passing civil disturbance - retaining policies than about finding effective ways to palliate hunger, which is back among Spaniards after more than five decades. The present research — developed under the framing paradigm — solves and clarifies information management in relation to the civil disturbance that began in Spain with the 15M movement in 2011 in the following Spanish, Latin - American, United States and European cybermedia from January to December 2013: elpais.com , elmundo.es , abc.es , lavanguardia.es , larazon.es , 20minutos.es , clarin.com , oglobo.globo.com , lanacion.cl , wsj.com , thetimes.co.uk, and lemonde.fr .
