Godas Rex: la amonedación del Reino de Godas

Abstract

Después de una reseña histórica de Cerdeña durante la segunda mitad del siglo V d.C. y de la amonedación vándala emitida por una ceca is leña, el autor analiza algunas raras emisiones acuñadas en nombre del rey Godas, monarca conocido únicamente por unos pasajes de las Historias de Procopio de Cesarea. El estudio de las emisiones monetarias confirma su relato y a la vez permite deducir algunos aspectos acerca de cómo Godas alcanzó el poder en la isla, y que no han sido discutidos por el historiad or palestino. De este modo, puede corregirse una interpretación inexacta de los hechos dada por los historiadores sardos que, fundándose en el texto latino en lugar del griego, estiman que Go das fue enviado a Cerdeña por el rey vándalo Gelamir: su papel en la isla tuvo, en efecto, que ser necesariamente relevante ya con Hilderico, su predecesor. Finalmente, el artículo es completad o por un corpus con todos los ejemplares conocidos de nummi en nombre de Godas. Dopo una rassegna storica sulla Sardegna della sec onda metà del V secolo e sulla monetazione vandala battuta da una zecca sarda, l'A utore descrive alcune rare emissioni monetarie battute in nome di Godas, sovrano conosci uto solamente grazie ad alcuni paragrafi delle Storie di Procopio di Cesarea. Lo studio dell e emissioni monetarie conferma il suo testo e permette di dedurre alcuni aspetti in merito agli e venti che portarono Godas al potere nell'isola e che non sono stati narrati dallo storico palestino. Ciò permette di correggere un'inesatta interpretazione dei fatti data dagli storici sardi, i quali, basandosi sulla traduzione latina invece che sull'originale greco, scrivono che Godas fu inv iato in Sardegna dal re vandalo Gelamir: invece il suo ruolo nell'isola fu necessariamente i mportante già durante il regno di Hilderico, il suo predecessore. L'articolo è completato dal corpus di tutti gli esemplari noti di nummi battuti in nome di Godas.
