Abstract

The importance of receivers’ role in communication acts involved in professional fields is discussed in this paper. Taking into account that context plays a very important part in the process of interpreting linguistic data, some of the pragmatic and text-linguistic principles from which we intend to accomplish a better comprehension of this process are setforth, in order to foster communicative strategies and the selection of proper linguistic options that can guarantee the development of quality in communication. The actual results of this discussion are yet to be seen, although it is our belief that it can help to the understanding of the theoretical principles that should account for the identification or the description of appropriate linguistic strategies for communicating in different social ambits, including specialized communication.
