ABSTRACT: The cerebrovascular accident is the leading neurological problem worldwide and it represents the third cause of death and handicap in the Republic of Argentina. Nurses can play an important role in its prevention, treatment and the rehabilitation process and can help not only the patients, but also their families. In this work we deal with the care of these patients within the first hours, providing a clinical protocol with some guidelines for the management of these patients.

En el mundo el ACV es el principal problema neurológico y en la República Argentina representa la tercera causa más importante de muerte y también el principal motivo de discapacidad. Las enfermeras tenemos mucho por hacer en la prevención, asistencia y rehabilitación de los pacientes y sus familias ante un ACV. En este estudio nos ocuparemos de las primeras horas de asistencia a estos pacientes, mediante una guía de actuación con actividades protocolizadas.
