El "Chateo": ¿Oralidad o escritura?

Abstract

El análisis lingüístico de textos orales y escritos ha producido, según diferentes autores, una lista de características propias de cada modalidad (Godoy, 1987, por ejemplo). Así, cuando se habla de registros orales y escritos, se proponen rasgos léxicos o sintácticos que son propios de cada registro y, que los mantienen separados como objetos de análisis. Modernamente, sin embargo, existen nuevas modalidades textuales, tales como los mensajes electrónicos, el "talk" y el "chat" que han obligado a los usuarios-creadores de tales textos a fabricar reglas sobre la marcha para su uso-creación, reglas que, a menudo no son claras, al constituir estos nuevos textos una forma híbrida entre la oralidad y la escritura. En este estudio se presentará un análisis preliminar de textos producidos en la modalidad de "chateo". Asimismo, se tratará de diferenciar cuáles son los rasgos que hacen de estos textos oralidad y cuáles, en cambio, hacen de ellos escritura, ya que se ha observado que, por una parte, el "chateo" se presenta como una toma de turnos, pares adyacentes, aperturas y cierres conversacionales y uso de marcadores discursivos propio de los textos conversacionales (Schiffrin, 1987). Por otra parte, algunos "chateros", aun en situaciones de "alta oralidad", tales como una conversación pornográfica, exigen de sus interlocutores el apego a normas estándares de escritura propias de los textos escritos.
