Abstract

Los grandes conceptos políticos son a la vez índices de las experiencias de los hombres y factores condicionantes de sus expectativas. De ahí que sean un objeto idóneo tanto para comprender nuestro pasado, como para identificar las posibilidades y alternativas que se abren ante nosotros. Los conceptos políticos condicionan nuestras esperanzas y nuestras instituciones y, por su polisemia, van acompañados de una lucha constante por determinar su sentido. En este libro se lleva a cabo un estudio de nueve grandes conceptos políticos contemporáneos y se defiende que ello es una forma plausible de hacer filosofía política orientada al análisis crítico del presente. En concreto, tres conceptos relativos al cuerpo político (comunidad, voluntad general y opinión pública), otros tres que aprehenden el vínculo político (contrato, representación y mercado) y tres relacionados con el poder político (legitimidad, soberanía y hegemonía). Para ello, el autor va de la mano de nueve autores contemporáneos cuya obra refleja una extraordinaria recepción de la reflexión sobre cada uno de esos conceptos, a la par que una propuesta original sobre ellos. Se trata, respectivamente, de F. Tönnies, B. Ackerman, J. Habermas, J. Rawls, H. Pitkin, F. Hayek, M. Weber, C. Schmitt y E. Laclau.
