Abstract

The term "Special Educational Needs" has been accepted by the edcuational community without having analysed its social and political implications. In this article these implications are analysed and the conclusion is that, if these implications are not taken into account, this new denomination will become no more than one of the many attempts that have been made throughout the history of Special Education to give the impression that the essence is changing, when in fact the only change is superficial.
