Interculturalismo, ciudadanía cosmopolita y educación intercultural. Presentación

Abstract

This article offers an interview of the phenomenon of interculturality. The first part focuses on the explanation of the concept "interculturalism", indicating that it is identified to a great extent with "cosmopolitan citizenship". In order to prove this point, the authors analyse both concepts, examining the relationship established between them, and end their argument by signalling that intercultural education is an essential right of all citizens, which, in turn, becomes an engine for the transformation of the society. In such a way that the more intercultural an individual is, the more citizen s/he becomes, and the more intercultural s/he becomes, a fuller member of the world community. The second part of the article offers a summary of each of the articles in this special issue on "Intercultural Education", which will allow the reader to preliminary approach its content.
