Hablar claro.

Abstract

There are numerous studies that highlight the influence that the media exerts on electoral results and on the rise of right-wing populism in Europe, not only because of the changes in the political agenda but also because of the form of expression and the negative frameworks they generate in the citizenry. Our article focuses on the analysis of press articles with VOX coverage from the main Spanish newspapers before and after the Vistalegre rally in 2018 and the Andalusian elections. The analysis confirms a close correlation between a wide use of dysphemism with the newspapers that show affiliative strategies of the extreme right. Likewise, we have shown that the reference press does not demonize VOX as it does with other parties. There are discursive register displacements more typical of social networks than the one that the press is supposed to have. Given the restricted corpus, the conclusions obtained are limited to the period studied
