Metodologia para avaliação da perda de massa óssea em Rattus norvegicus

Abstract

O objectivo deste trabalho é estudar qual a influência que poderá ter o stress, conjuntamente com o descontrole hormonal (glucocorticoides e hormona de crescimento) e descontrole imunitário, em Rattus norvegicus da linhagem Wistar de três faixas etárias, jovens, adultos e idosos, géneros feminino e masculino. Foram feitos testes mecânicos, recorrendo à utilização de uma máquina EMIC, exames de densitometria óssea (DEXA), no fémur, vértebra e tíbia, de cada um dos indivíduos, bem com uma análise histoquímica, desses mesmos tecidos. Foi efectuada uma análise comparativa entre os diferentes parâmetros e verificação da relevância na perda de massa óssea, com objectivo de verificar o risco de fractura. O estudo possibilitará extrapolar o conhecimento obtido em Rattus norvegicus para estruturas ósseas de humanos, utilizando metodologias simples e válidas sobre a perda da massa óssea.
