Actividade enzimática e biomassa microbiana do solo em pastagens naturais e melhoradas

Abstract

As pastagens permanentes semeadas biodiversas ricas em leguminosas (PBRL) contituem um ecossistema inovador que contribui para o aumento da fertilidade do solo. Os microrganismos do solo são considerados bons indicadores para avaliar a qualidade do solo devido à sua abundância, actividade bioquímica e respostas rápidas a perturbações ambientais. Dos parâmetros microbianos do solo, a actividade enzimática é um dos mais utilizados por poder estar relacionada com a matéria orgânica e propriedades físicas do solo, bem como com a biomassa microbiana. O objectivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a actividade da enzima desidrogenase e a biomassa microbiana de solos provenientes de PBRL. A PBRL foi instalada em 2007 na Quinta de França-Covilhã e a amostragem do solo foi realizada a uma profundidade de 0-10 cm. A desidrogenase foi quantificada de acordo com Solaiman (2007) e a biomassa microbiana pelo método de fumigação e extracção. Os resultados mostraram que a actividade da enzima desidrogenase e da actividade microbiana foram superiores nas pastagens semeadas comparativamente com as pastagens naturais. Estes resultados parecem indicar que o solo proveniente de PBRL tem mais capacidade de suportar os processos bioquímicos essenciais à manutenção da fertilidade do solo, nomeadamente os processos relacionados com o ciclo do azoto.
