Sigma: plataforma de apoio à comunidade escolar

Abstract

The school institution has undergone significant changes throughout its history, at all levels. It‟s no longer an elite school to be a mass school. It´s no longer a peripheral state institution, becoming an autonomous organization, with social concerns, emerging new players. As a result, the bureaucracy in our schools has increased very significantly, adding to the teacher a number of tasks, when it should only concern itself with education. Following the study on the state of the art, this paper presents the modeling, design and implementation of a Web platform that aims to bring all actors, and significantly reduce the time spent on administrative tasks. The Web platform, called Sigma, was designed using the GWT framework. Communication with the server was in charge of PHP and MySQL, given the restrictions imposed by the hosting environment. The platform was fully designed, giving the school a useful and simple tool to use, working at an experimental stage during this academic year.
