In this paper we are suggesting a reflection on models of virtual learning environments. These models are closely related with the notion of learning communities and with the learning processes within these communities. Such models also provide a framework for reflection about the new roles of trainers and trainees involved in virtual learning environments. In addition, the reflection on a new learning approach, based in an emerging collaborative paradigm, is also enabled.
