Longevidade no espaço Europeu

Abstract

Uma das grandes problemáticas das sociedades desenvolvidas prende-se com a questão da longevidade. Não só na Europa, mas um pouco por todo o mundo, vive-se cada vez mais tempo. Mas viver mais anos, deverá ser sinónimo de viver também melhor, o que se traduz num grande desafio em termos de políticas públicas para qualquer país, já que à idade mais avançada está associada normalmente uma menor qualidade de vida. Este trabalho tem a pretensão de fazer uma análise da longevidade em alguns Estados Membros da União Europeia (UE), através do ÍNDICE de LONGEVIDADE, dado pela relação entre a população mais idosa (75 anos, ou mais) e a população idosa (65 anos, ou mais). Os dados estatísticos usados nesta análise são da base de dados oficial da UE (Eurostat) e do Instituto Nacional de Estatística Português (INE) e respeitam ao período compreendido entre os anos de 1960 e 2024.
