Abstract

Actualmente, as redes sociais fazem parte da vida dos nossos alunos. O Facebook é, provavelmente, o principal sítio de encontro, comunicação, partilha e interacção de ideias e assuntos de interesse comum, entre os estudantes universitários. Neste contexto e dadas as possibilidades que as redes sociais oferecem para a criação de um ambiente de aprendizagem efectivo, participativo e interactivo, apresentamos um estudo de caso numa turma do 1º ano de licenciatura em Educação Básica na unidade curricular de Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação em Educação. Os objectivos que motivaram a realização deste estudo foram, por um lado, identificar e explorar o potencial educativo desta rede social, e pelo outro, aumentar o interesse, a participação e a interacção dos alunos com os conteúdos e com agentes do processo de aprendizagem e, consequentemente, melhorar o aproveitamento e o reconhecimento destas ferramentas como um importante recurso nas estratégias dos educadores e professores do Ensino Básico. Genericamente, este estudo consistiu na exploração das aplicações e funcionalidades do Facebook, na identificação da sua utilidade educativa, na experimentação através de recursos e actividades contextualizadas e na correspondente avaliação por meio de um questionário.
