Inteligência artificial na avaliação e no feedback formativo no ensino superior em Cabo Verde

Abstract

Este artigo analisa a perceção dos estudantes do ensino superior em Cabo Verde em relação ao uso da Inteligência Artificial (IA) nos processos de avaliação e feedback formativo. O estudo adotou uma abordagem mista, exploratória e descritiva, combinando questionários online para a recolha de dados quantitativos e qualitativos. A amostra foi composta por 86 estudantes de graduação de duas universidades cabo-verdianas, com o questionário validado por especialistas e aprovado pela comissão de ética do Instituto Politécnico de Bragança. Os resultados indicam que 44,7% dos estudantes acreditam que a IA pode tornar a avaliação mais justa e eficiente, enquanto 40,7% expressam dúvidas e 15,1% não acreditam nessa possibilidade. Quanto ao feedback automatizado, os principais benefícios identificados foram rapidez na resposta (60,5%), personalização segundo as necessidades individuais (50%) e objetividade baseada em dados (44,2%), seguidos por feedback contínuo (36%), sugestões de recursos (34,9%) e incentivo à autoavaliação (31,4%). A análise qualitativa das respostas abertas permitiu complementar esses resultados, evidenciando perceções sobre a interação pedagógica, a confiança na tecnologia e, também, possíveis limitações. Conclui-se que a integração da IA na avaliação e no feedback formativo oferece benefícios significativos para a aprendizagem, mas deve ser orientada por princípios éticos e pedagógicos, garantindo que a tecnologia complemente, e não substitua, o papel do professor.

This article analyzes the perceptions of higher education students in Cape Verde regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in assessment and formative feedback processes. The study adopted a mixed, exploratory, and descriptive approach, combining online questionnaires to collect quantitative and qualitative data. The sample consisted of 86 undergraduate students from two Cape Verdean universities, with the questionnaire validated by experts and approved by the ethics committee of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança. The results indicate that 44.7% of students believe that AI can make assessments fairer and more efficient, while 40.7% express doubts, and 15.1% do not believe in this possibility. Regarding automated feedback, the main benefits identified were speed of response (60.5%), personalization according to individual needs (50%), and data-based objectivity (44.2%), followed by continuous feedback (36%), resource suggestions (34.9%), and encouragement of self-assessment (31.4%). Qualitative analysis of open-ended responses complemented these results, highlighting perceptions about pedagogical interaction, trust in technology, and potential limitations. It is concluded that the integration of AI into assessment and formative feedback offers significant benefits for learning, but must be guided by ethical and pedagogical principles, ensuring that technology complements, rather than replaces, the role of the teacher.
