Jorge Semprun, le revenant: mémoire et oubli d’une expérience concentrationnaire

Abstract

Ce travail est consacré à l’analyse de quelques épisodes et facettes de la vie de Jorge Semprun qui évoquent son expérience concentrationnaire. Rescapé de la déportation, Semprun et son écriture autobiographique s’inscrivent dans le souci de transmission d’une mémoire collective. L’oubli de cette expérience étant impossible, ses écrits reviennent souvent sur ses réflexions traumatiques vécues lors de sa détention par la Gestapo et au camp de Buchenwald où il fut déporté de la fin de janvier 1944 à la mi-avril 1945. La mémoire de ce trauma est traitée ici dans Le Grand Voyage (1963), Quel Beau Dimanche ! (1980), L’Écriture ou la Vie (1994) et Le Mort qu’il faut (2001). Notre propos est de montrer que pour Semprun, alias Gérard Sorel, alias Federico Sánchez, seul le langage littéraire, avec ses artifices multiples, peut transmettre la vérité de cet horrible trauma.
