Abstract

O solo é um importante compartimento de carbono (C) e exerce um papel fundamental sobre a emissão de gases com efeito de estufa e consequentemente influencia as mudanças climáticas globais. É também um importante reservatório de C fundamental para a produtividade das plantas.quantidade de C na biomassa aérea da vegetação dos SD variou entre 1,4 ton ha-1 em Salgueiros e 3,6 ton ha-1 em Carrazedo. O C total relativo às componentes da biomassa aérea e raízes da vegetação do coberto apenas foi avaliado nos SD de Parada e Salgueiros tendo-se registado um valor médio de 2,3 ton ha-1 e 5,6 ton ha-1, respetivamente.
