Abstract

Com o desenvolvimento tecnológico foi evidente o desvio da atenção dos cui dadores, da pessoa doente para a ciência técnica. O movimento pela humanização dos cuidados, adverte para a urgente necessidade de equilíbrio entre tecnologia e hu manismo.De acordo com o pensamento de Potter, expressado no seu livro “Bioethics: Bridge to the Future” (Potter, 1971), uma nova ética dará corpo e vigor a uma preo cupação moral ancestral nos cuidados de saúde e origina uma nova disciplina que, através de discernimento interdisciplinar,se dedica ao estudo da conduta humana na utilização de meios técnicos sofisticados, no cerne da relação entre profissionais de saúde e as pessoas doentes vulneráveis.
