Staphylococcus aureus resistentes à meticilina : aspectos epidemiológicos na Europa

Abstract

O Staphylococcus aureus Resistente à Meticilina (MRSA) é responsável por infeções adquiridas na prestação de cuidados de saúde associadas a elevado risco de morbilidade e mortalidade. A avaliação das tendências temporais e das diferenças geográficas da prevalência de infeção por MRSA permite detetar valores desfavoráveis para este indicador que requerem atenção particular dos responsáveis pela saúde pública. Objetivos: Comparar a prevalência de MRSA nos 15 países que constituíram a União Europeia antes de 2000. Método: Recolheu-se informação fornecida pela EARSS (European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control) sobre número de isolados e de MRSA observados entre 2013 e 2015 nos 15 países europeus. Com base na prevalência global de MRSA na região europeia que engloba os 15 países, calculou-se para cada país em estudo o número de casos esperados. A partir dos valores observados e esperados de MRSA obteve-se para cada país a razão padronizada de resistência (RPR) e respectivo intervalo de confiança a 95% (IC95%) com recurso ao software WinPepi. Resultados: Dos países Europeus analisados nos anos 2013 – 2015, os que apresentam uma maior percentagem de MRSA são Portugal (47%), Itália (35%) e Espanha (23%) e os que apresentam menor percentagem são Holanda (1,1%) e Suécia (1,0%). De acordo com os valores obtidos para RPR verifica-se que em Portugal os valores observados são quase o triplo do que seria esperado (RPR=290%; IC95%: 280% - 298%). Em contrapartida a Suécia e a Holanda apresentam valores observados 80% mais baixos do que o esperado (RPR= 19,1%; IC95%: 15,6%-23,6% e RPR=7,1%; IC95%: 5,6%-8,9%).
