Os impactos dos detergentes no ambiente e na saúde.

Abstract

No nosso dia-a-dia utilizamos uma grande variedade de detergentes, produtos de limpeza e cosméticos. No entanto, algumas . das substâncias presentes nestes produtos podem interferir no funcionamento dos ecossistemas, levando à degradação da qualidade do ambiente. É o caso dos fosfatos presentes em muitos detergentes que contribuem para a eutroficação dos ecossistemas aquáticos, dos agentes tensioactivos que contribuem para a alteração das comunidades bacterianas nos ecossistemas, prejudicando os processos mediados por estes seres vivos que aí ocorrem. Outros compostos, para além de terem impactos ambientais negativos, têm também efeitos nocivos na saúde humana. Por exemplo, alguns conservantes e fragrâncias causam alergias e são cancerígenos e outros produtos, como os ftalatos, são · disruptores endócrinas. Para além do mencionado há ainda a considerar a grande quantidade de resíduos (embalagens) lançados no ambiente e que não são biodegradáveis. Assim, o objectivo deste trabalho é: apresentar os impactos negativos destes produtos .no ambiente e saúde humana e sugerir comportamentos que os consumidores e cidadãos devem adoptar para reduzir os efeitos mencionados.
