Abstract

A grande variedade de características requeridas dos profissionais em SI continua a ser um desafio para as organizações e escolas. Muitas das características estão a tornar-se obsoletas enquanto novas estão a surgir. Assim, como seria de esperar, as características desejadas pela indústria têm-se alterado ao longo do tempo (devendo-se, em grande, parte à evolução tecnológica), existindo ainda alguma indefinição sobre quais as aptidões mais relevantes: Soft Skills ou Hard Skills. Soft Skills são geralmente competências interpessoais e mais difíceis de definir devido à sua subjectividade (incluem competências orais, escrita e de apresentação). Tipicamente, as Soft Skills incluem características como a liderança, capacidade de aprendizagem, capacidade de escutar, comunicar de forma eficaz, gerir equipas, adaptação rápida, persuasão, gestão do tempo e capacidade de criar uma visão comum. Estes Skills são extremamente importantes para que os profissionais de SI possam responder apropriadamente às mudanças dos requisitos dos clientes. Hard Skills são as competências técnicas que um indivíduo possui, Skills obtidas através de aprendizagem educacional e aplicação prática. Na área dos SI, Hard Skills incluem competências como a compreensão de certas linguagens de programação, como XML ou Java, ou a compreensão de como as redes de dados são construídas Neste contexto, este artigo analisa a evolução das características esperadas pela indústria dos profissionais em SI, utilizando para tal estudos internacionais.
